About

I design algorithms that create advanced AI algorithms.

I am Head of Research at Abacus.AI (formerly known as RealityEngines.AI) in San Francisco. Our work focuses on AutoML and ML fairness, and more broadly we study artificial intelligence and theoretical computer science. I am particularly interested in neural architecture search, hyperparameter optimization, and mitigating bias in large ML models.

I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Ph.D. in computer science. I was fortunate to be advised by Nina Balcan, and I was supported by the NDSEG Fellowship. I received my undergraduate degree from Amherst College.
