I design algorithms that create advanced AI algorithms.

I am Head of Research at Abacus.AI in San Francisco. Our work focuses on AutoML and ML fairness, and more broadly we study artificial intelligence and theoretical computer science. I am particularly interested in neural architecture search, hyperparameter optimization, and mitigating bias in large ML models.

I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Ph.D. in computer science. I was fortunate to be advised by Nina Balcan, and I was supported by the NDSEG Fellowship. I received my undergraduate degree from Amherst College.
