Colin White

I design algorithms that create advanced AI algorithms.

I am Head of Research at Abacus.AI in San Francisco. Our work focuses on AutoML and ML fairness, and more broadly we study artificial intelligence and theoretical computer science. I am particularly interested in neural architecture search, hyperparameter optimization, and mitigating bias in large ML models.

I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Ph.D. in computer science. I was fortunate to be advised by Nina Balcan, and I was supported by the NDSEG Fellowship. I received my undergraduate degree from Amherst College.

  • Our paper, "Exploring the Loss Landscape in Neural Architecture Search" has been accepted to UAI 2021! We will relese the new paper soon. Here is an earlier version.

We will be holding the 8th AutoML Workshop at ICML 2021! The deadline to submit is May 17.
